The Digital Safety and Security training had been prioritized late last year as a priority need in Palestine due to the consistent harassment and the fear of defamation once the SRHR campaigns start. Hence, the training was delivered to the country team and was concluded by March 9th 2022.
The Build your Digital Community training was delivered to the Jordan team face-to-face in Amman city. The training was attended by not only the Oxfam partners but also representatives from the Oxfam team itself. The training kickstarted the activities on building online communities for youth outreach.
The Center for Intimacy Justice set up an advocacy campaign targeting Facebook on censoring sexual health ads, thereby hindering access to SRHR information. The campaign used examples from RNW Media’s existing Facebook censorship study from the Love Matters Global Network – including cases of censorship from Love Matters Arabic in Egypt. The campaign resulted in a white paper publication in the New York Times and has been picked up by 93 other media outlets around the world with a reach of 152 million people. The campaign led to global support from Hillary Clinton and now US congress is asking Facebook to respond. A major success that holds Facebook accountable and will hopefully result in more inclusive access to SRHR information online.
